Antebellum Differences Cause Regional Divide
Due to differences in social values, economics, and demographics, the North had a more developed education system than the South in antebellum America.
Socially, differing mindsets and value systems split the North and the South. Taxation opinions and economic structures led to regional differences. Finally, total population, cities, and slave usage contributed to a demographic divide. All of these factors piled up to create a stronger education system in the North than in the South.
